We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated **General Manager** to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business and drive performance across all areas.
The Role
The General Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operational performance of Lynx Taxis. This is a senior leadership position requiring a commercially minded individual with strong people management, operational, and organisational skills.
The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of the business, lead our operational teams, manage resources effectively, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management
* Oversee the day-to-day running of the taxi operation.
* Ensure service levels and customer satisfaction targets are achieved.
* Manage operational systems, software platforms, and technology.
* Monitor fleet performance and driver availability.
* Maintain compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements.
People Management
* Manage and support office staff, controllers, dispatchers, and supervisors.
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
* Create and manage staff rotas and holiday schedules.
* Conduct performance reviews and manage employee performance.
* Foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
Commercial & Business Development
* Support business growth initiatives and strategic planning.
* Assist in securing and managing corporate accounts.
* Oversee pricing strategies and fare structures.
* Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
* Identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.
Contracts & Tenders
* Prepare and submit tender applications.
* Manage relationships with local authorities, schools, NHS organisations, and corporate clients.
* Ensure contractual obligations are delivered effectively.
* Support the growth of public and private sector contracts.
Financial & Performance Management
* Monitor operational KPIs and business performance.
* Manage budgets and operational expenditure.
* Produce management reports and recommendations.
* Work closely with company directors to achieve business objectives.
Requirements
Essential
* Previous management experience within transport, logistics, operations, customer service, or a similar environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
* Experience managing staff, rotas, and operational processes.
* Commercial awareness and strong problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Preferred
* Experience within the taxi, private hire, transport, logistics, or passenger transport sector.
* Knowledge of dispatch systems and transport management software.
* Experience preparing tenders and managing contracts.
* Understanding of licensing and regulatory compliance.
* Experience managing budgets and operational performance.
