An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Neurophysiologist to join an established Clinical Neurophysiology department in Wales.
The department delivers a comprehensive diagnostic service for both adult and paediatric patients across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, intensive care and community settings. You will work alongside an experienced Consultant, Clinical Service Manager, specialist Clinical Physiologists and trainee Clinical Scientists, while contributing to service development, education and research within a collaborative Neurosciences network.
- Deliver consultant-led Clinical Neurophysiology services for adult and paediatric patients.
- Perform and report a wide range of neurophysiological investigations including:
- EEG
- Prolonged EEG
- Sleep-deprived EEG
- Ambulatory EEG
- Video telemetry
- EMG
- Nerve conduction studies
- Evoked Potentials
- Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis and management.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective patient care.
- Support service improvement, governance and patient safety initiatives.
- Participate in clinical governance, risk management and information governance.
- Supervise, teach and support junior doctors, Clinical Scientists and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in departmental audit, CPD and annual appraisal.
- Full GMC Registration.
- Licence to Practise.
- GMC Specialist Registration in Clinical Neurophysiology (or eligible for CCT within six months of interview).
- Higher degree or relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Teaching qualification or higher qualification in Medical Education.
- Previous NHS experience.
- Ability to develop effective multidisciplinary working relationships.
- Experience working with clinical and managerial colleagues to improve services.
- Experience developing and commissioning Neurophysiology services.
- Commitment to partnership working across healthcare organisations.
- Experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate clinical staff.
- Experience leading clinical audit.
- Experience in neurological research.
- Broad experience managing neurological conditions.
- Strong clinical leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of Prudent Healthcare principles.
- Commitment to quality improvement and service development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Good understanding of healthcare information systems and technology.
- Knowledge of Improvement Science and quality improvement methodology.
- Participate in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education.
- Supervise and support trainee doctors and healthcare professionals.
- Participate in clinical audit, governance and quality improvement.
- Maintain CPD and annual appraisal requirements.
