Group Head of People & Culture
Purple Dragon | London | Multi-Site & International
Purple Dragon is a multi-award-winning private family members’ club, setting the bar for family members’ clubs worldwide. For children, we’re the world’s best playroom; for adults, we’re a safe haven to catch up with friends and family over a great coffee, glass of good wine or a meal together, whilst enjoying guilt-free family time.
As part of the Nexus Luxury Collection, we are entering an exciting period of growth. With clubs in London and The Bahamas, and new locations including New York and St Tropez planned for 2027, we are looking for an experienced Group Head of People & Culture to help shape the next stage of our journey.
The Role
Reporting into and working closely with the Founder and senior leadership team, the Group Head of People & Culture will lead our people, culture and organisational development strategy across Purple Dragon and our UK Nexus brands.
This is a broad, senior HR leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable setting strategy, advising senior leaders and getting involved in the day-to-day realities of a growing, operational business.
You will be responsible for ensuring we have the right people, leadership, skills, structures and culture to support both our current operations and future growth. A key part of your role will be protecting what makes Purple Dragon special as we grow – ensuring our Values, Building Blocks and approach to exceptional service remain recognisable across our teams and locations.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
You will lead and oversee the People & Culture agenda across the Group, including:
-
Developing and delivering the Group People & Culture strategy in line with our business plans and international growth.
- Leading complex employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, performance and workplace conflict.
- Ensuring our policies, practices and HR governance remain compliant, consistent and appropriate across different locations and jurisdictions.
- Coaching and developing managers to become confident, accountable and effective people leaders.
- Strengthening employee engagement and ensuring our culture and values translate into clear, everyday behaviours.
- Overseeing recruitment and workforce planning, including senior, specialist and business-critical appointments.
- Leading performance management, succession planning, talent development and organisational development.
- Overseeing our learning and development strategy and managing the Learning & Development function.
- Owning and continually developing the Purple Dragon onboarding and induction experience.
- Supporting new openings, organisational change and international expansion from a people and culture perspective.
- Using people data, operational insight and employee trends to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
About You
We are looking for an experienced senior HR generalist and People & Culture leader who combines strong professional knowledge with commercial awareness, emotional intelligence and a genuine understanding of operational businesses.
You will bring:
-
Broad senior-level HR generalist experience with strong knowledge of UK employment law.
- Experience working across multiple sites, ideally within hospitality, leisure, luxury, membership or another service-led environment.
- Confidence advising, influencing and constructively challenging senior leaders.
- Strong employee relations, investigation and performance management experience.
- Experience coaching managers and developing leadership capability.
- Knowledge of organisational development, workforce planning, succession and talent development.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong judgement, discretion and emotional intelligence.
- The ability to translate culture and values into meaningful behaviours and ways of working.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and high personal standards.
- The confidence to move between strategic leadership and hands-on operational delivery.
- The ability to work effectively across different locations, cultures and jurisdictions.
Why Purple Dragon?
This is an opportunity to join Purple Dragon at an important point in our growth and have a genuine influence on how our culture and people practices evolve as the business expands internationally.
We care deeply about the experience we create for our members – and we know that experience starts with our people.
If you are an experienced People & Culture leader who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships and creating an environment where both people and organisations can thrive, we would love to hear from you.
