About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Healthcare to lead the delivery of high-quality healthcare services at HMP Stoke Heath. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior healthcare leader with a strong background in operational management, clinical governance, and service transformation.
As the Head of Healthcare, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to a multidisciplinary healthcare team, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, patient-centred services that meet NHS, CQC, and HMPPS standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for healthcare services within HMP Stoke Heath.
- Lead the implementation of healthcare strategies, annual operational plans, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based, and patient-centred healthcare services.
- Drive continuous service improvement to enhance patient outcomes, experience, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with NHS, Care Quality Commission (CQC), HM Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS), and contractual requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with prison management, commissioners, NHS providers, and external stakeholders.
- Promote integrated working across physical health, mental health, public health, and substance misuse services.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Healthcare Professional (NMC, HCPC, or equivalent professional registration).
- Significant senior leadership experience within NHS, healthcare, or Health & Justice services.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary healthcare teams and complex healthcare services.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.
- Experience leading organisational change, service transformation, and performance improvement programmes.
- Excellent understanding of NHS standards, CQC regulations, safeguarding, and healthcare governance.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working within prison healthcare, secure environments, or Health & Justice services.
- Leadership qualification or postgraduate management qualification.
- Experience managing commissioned healthcare services and contractual performance.
- Knowledge of reducing health inequalities and improving access to healthcare for vulnerable populations.
