We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning and factory acceptance testing (FAT) of our unmanned maritime platforms.
Reporting to the Maritime Operations Director, this is a critical leadership role responsible for managing the Commissioning Team and overseeing all commissioning activities across the business. You will play a key role in ensuring our platforms are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with Engineering, R&D, Systems Integration, Product Development and Production teams, you will establish commissioning strategies, develop robust processes and procedures, and ensure commissioning readiness is built into new platform development from the earliest stages.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the Commissioning Team
- Hold full accountability for the successful commissioning of unmanned maritime platforms through to customer acceptance
- Develop, implement and continually improve commissioning processes, procedures and standards
- Collaborate with Engineering, R&D and Production teams to ensure commissioning requirements are incorporated throughout the development lifecycle
- Create commissioning plans, guides, test documentation and acceptance procedures
- Ensure all commissioning documentation is reviewed, approved and available ahead of programme requirements
- Establish and maintain robust configuration management processes
- Lead platform review and sign-off activities throughout the test and acceptance process
- Maintain control of software baselines, hardware configurations and technical documentation
- Investigate, manage and resolve commissioning issues, implementing corrective actions where required
- Manage commissioning schedules, resource allocation and delivery priorities across multiple platforms and projects
- Monitor commissioning performance, quality and efficiency and drive continuous improvement activities
- Ensure commissioning activities are conducted safely and in line with company processes and quality standards
- Provide regular progress updates, readiness reports and performance metrics to senior management
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, continuous improvement and operational excellence
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience leading commissioning, integration, testing or engineering teams
- Strong understanding of marine, electrical, mechanical and software-integrated systems
- Experience developing commissioning procedures, test plans and acceptance criteria
- Strong understanding of configuration management and controlled engineering processes
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across a dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach and strong sense of ownership
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required
Desirable
- Experience working with autonomous systems or unmanned surface vessels (USVs)
- Experience within defence, maritime, naval or offshore industries
- Knowledge of systems engineering and product lifecycle management
- Familiarity with software configuration control and release management
- Experience using Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project or similar tools
- Understanding of maritime regulations, classification requirements and certification processes
- Experience supporting customer acceptance programmes and sea trials
