About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Geospatial & Address Management Officer to support the development and maintenance of the Council’s corporate address and street gazetteers, alongside key geospatial reference data used across services.
Working with the Geospatial Data Development Manager, you will contribute to projects that transform complex data into clear, practical insight through cartography, spatial analysis and geospatial thematic visualisations.
What you will do
- Maintain high-quality address, street and geospatial data that supports services across Newport.
- Deliver the Council’s statutory Street Naming and Numbering function.
- Produce spatial data, maps and analytical outputs to support strategic, tactical and operational decision-making.
- Promote data quality, collaboration and appropriate data sharing.
- Support compliance with statutory requirements and the Public Sector Geospatial Agreement.
What we are looking for
- HND/HNC/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Experience of national address and street gazetteer data, geospatial referencing and the UK National Spatial Address Infrastructure Programme.
- Strong GIS skills, including experience with desktop mapping tools such as MapInfo, QGIS, or ESRI.
- The ability to develop practical solutions and explain complex information clearly to different audiences.
