Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Learning Mentor at a PMLD Specialist School in Bristol.
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in providing individualised support and guidance to students with PMLD. Your primary responsibility will be to assist and empower students in overcoming barriers to learning, promoting their independence, and enhancing their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to students with PMLD, tailoring interventions to their specific needs and abilities
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting students’ social and emotional development
Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create personalised learning plans and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual students’ requirements
Implement PMLD-specific strategies and techniques, such as sensory integration, communication systems, and assistive technology, to facilitate students’ access to learning
Support students in developing essential life skills, promoting their independence and self-confidence
Build strong relationships with students, their families, and the wider school community, ensuring effective communication and collaboration
Monitor and track students’ progress, providing regular feedback and reporting to the relevant stakeholders
Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance your knowledge of PMLD support strategies and stay up-to-date with best practices in the field
Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience working with individuals with PMLD is essential
A caring and compassionate nature, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of PMLD-specific strategies, interventions, and assistive technology
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently
Strong organisational and time management skills
