We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Bar Supervisor to join the award-winning team at Driftwood Spars in beautiful St Agnes, Cornwall. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences.
About the Role
As Bar Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the bars, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, stock control and team performance at all times. You will play a key role in training and developing staff, maintaining our excellent reputation for real ale and customer service, and supporting the wider management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the bar team during service
- Deliver outstanding customer service to all guests
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene
- Monitor stock control, stock rotation and cellar management
- Ensure beer quality through correct cellar practices and line cleaning
- Train and develop bar staff in service standards, product knowledge and licensing laws
- Support and enforce Challenge 25 and licensing regulations
- Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
- Promote and maintain our award-winning real ale selection
- Assist with bar events, live music promotion and social media activity
- Monitor staff attendance and support company procedures
- Support recycling, energy-saving and sustainability initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bar supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of and genuine passion for real ales - especially with the pride of representing our own award-winning brewery - alongside beers, wines and spirits.
- Passion for hospitality, live music and customer experience
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience training and motivating teams
- Good understanding of licensing laws and health & safety
- Personal Licence Holder preferred
- Social media confident (Instagram, Facebook & Twitter/X)
- Organised, reliable and professional in presentation
- A genuine passion for Cornwall and St Agnes is a bonus
