We are seeking an experienced and driven workshop manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our high-pressure water jetting refurbishment depot. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the depot, maximising equipment utilisation, and delivering excellent service to customers.
The successful candidate will manage the refurbishment operations, lead a small team, and ensure all equipment and activities meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all depot refurbishment operations
- Ensure high availability and utilisation of water jetting equipment, including jetting units, pumps, hoses, and accessories
- Manage and coordinate daily workload between workshop, sales and hire teams
- Lead, supervise, and support depot staff, including engineers
- Maintain excellent customer service standards, handling enquiries, issues, and escalations
- Ensure all equipment is serviced, maintained, and compliant with relevant safety regulations (e.g., pressure systems)
- Monitor depot refurbishment performance, including utilisation, turnaround times, and service delivery
- Manage stock levels of parts, consumables, and refurbishment equipment
- Ensure accurate documentation, including service records, and compliance logs
- Promote and enforce health & safety procedures across the depot
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient depot environment
- Support business development by building relationships with local customers and identifying opportunities for growth
Requirements
- Proven experience in a depot, operations, or supervisory role within hire, plant, or related industry
- Good understanding of mechanical equipment, ideally high-pressure water jetting systems or similar
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Strong awareness of health & safety practices
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
- Experience within a water jetting or specialist equipment hire company
- Knowledge of pressure system safety regulations (PSSR)
- WJA (Water Jetting Association) awareness or certification
- Relevant engineering or operational qualification
- IT skills for hire systems and operational reporting
- Full UK driving licence
