We are now seeking an Assistant Nursery Manager who will be room-based as a Room Leader, working directly with the Nursery Manager and Director. This role is ideal for an experienced early years professional with management or leadership experience who is ready to take the next step in their career within a supportive and forward-thinking nursery.
The Role
As Assistant Nursery Manager, you will lead your room with confidence and passion, acting as a role model for the team while supporting the wider leadership of the nursery. You will play a key part in embedding the Canopy vision and ethos, supporting staff development, building strong parent partnerships, and ensuring outstanding practice across the setting.
This is a hands-on role where you will remain closely connected to the children while developing your leadership and management skills in a newly opened nursery environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a room effectively, ensuring high-quality care, learning, and development
- Act as a role model, inspiring best practice and professionalism within the team
- Work closely with the Nursery Manager and Director to support the day-to-day running of the nursery
- Support the implementation of the EYFS and Canopy curriculum
- Take a lead on outdoor play and enriching learning experiences
- Support literacy-led learning, promoting language, communication, and early reading skills
- Build strong, positive partnerships with parents and carers
- Support staff through mentoring, guidance, and reflective practice
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice at all times
- Contribute to the continuous development of this newly opened nursery
About You
- Hold a relevant Early Years qualification Level 3 or above
- Have minimum of 2 years experience as a Deputy, Assistant Manager, or similar leadership role
- Be confident working directly with senior leadership
- Be passionate about outdoor learning and high-quality early education
- Have strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- Be motivated, reflective, and eager to progress your career in early years leadership
- Share and actively promote the vision and ethos of the Canopy franchise
