The School of Health & Medical Sciences has an opportunity for a Trial Manager (maternity cover) on an NIHR funded programme grant: Improving outcomes in patients who self-harm - Adapting and evaluating a brief pSychological inteRvention in Emergency Departments (ASsuRED). The trial is assessing the clinical and cost effectiveness of a psychological intervention in reducing repeat hospital attendance for self-harm. This national multi-centred trial has been conducted across 10+ Emergency Departments (EDs) in London, the South West and the Midlands. The role is fixed term until the 31.01.2027 .
The Trial Manager will have a key role in the coordination of all aspects of the ASsuRED trial, which is nearing completion. The role will include tasks such as obtaining data from NHS Trusts and NHS England, supporting statistical and health economic data analysis led by the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (QMUL), closing down study sites, presenting findings, writing reports, lay summaries and papers for publication.
Applications are invited from candidates with a PhD who are experienced in clinical trial management and research in the area of self-harm and mental health. They will have excellent organisational and administrative skills in managing a trial involving multiple clinical sites, working with statistical and health economic methodologists and liaising with relevant stakeholders. They will have presented at scientific conferences and published peer-reviewed papers.
