Our newest location is The Garden Café at Strawberry Hill House – a truly unique historic venue in Twickenham. It’s a peaceful, creative setting where you can grow your skills and be part of something meaningful.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior Chef (Commis Chef) to join our kitchen team at The Garden Café. This is a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their culinary career who is enthusiastic, hard-working, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking our seasonal brunch and lunch menu
- Follow food preparation techniques, recipes, and presentation standards
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety practices at all times
- Support stock rotation, deliveries, and general kitchen cleanliness
- Work closely with a friendly, professional team in a busy café kitchen
- Lend a hand to the front of house team with customer service or general tasks when the kitchen is quiet – we value a flexible, all-hands-on-deck spirit!
What We’re Looking For
- Some previous kitchen experience or relevant training (ideally NVQ Level 1 or 2)
- A genuine passion for fresh food and a willingness to learn
- A positive, reliable, and proactive approach
- A team player who brings energy but stays calm under pressure
- Someone who’s neat, tidy, and comfortable interacting with customers
- A person who is happy to wash-up and help with the cleaning too
- Availability to work weekends (essential)
