Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join our educational team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a positive learning environment by supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher. This position offers an opportunity to work within a supportive environment, contributing to the development and well-being of students with diverse needs, including those with special educational requirements and disabilities. Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage classroom activities across various subjects, ensuring students remain engaged and focused.
- Implement lesson plans provided by teachers or deliver pre-prepared activities that align with curriculum standards.
- Support students with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities, fostering an inclusive environment.
- Assist students with behavioural management, promoting positive behaviour and conflict resolution.
- Provide personalised support through tutoring or mentoring to help students achieve their academic goals.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and support staff regarding student progress and behaviour.
- Encourage creative writing and other expressive activities to stimulate student creativity and confidence.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students during lessons and break times, adhering to safeguarding protocols.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special educational needs, including autism spectrum conditions.
- Background in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring roles that involve working closely with young people.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for working with children requiring additional support.
