Lullabies Day Nursery is looking for a Room Leader who will be a 3rd in Charge
Hours:
- 40 hours per week (5 days/8 hour shift between 7:30 and 6/Monday to Friday)

- Minimum of Level 3 childcare qualification
- Minimum 1 years experience as a Room Leader
- Previous experience of working in a nursery environment
- Excellent knowledge of EYFS framework

Job Purpose:
To support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in ensuring high-quality care and education for children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Third in Charge will act as the senior member of staff in the absence of both the Manager and Deputy, supporting daily operations, safeguarding, and leadership responsibilities across the setting.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management:
- Support the Manager and Deputy in overseeing the day-to-day running of the nursery.
- Act as the responsible person in charge when senior staff are absent.
- Lead and model high-quality practice in line with the EYFS and nursery ethos.
- Mentor and support staff, fostering a positive team culture and reflective practice.
- Participate in recruitment, inductions, and performance management processes where required.
- Support all members of staff to help maintain a good working environment
- Keyholder for the building
- Designated Safeguarding Lead
Childcare & Curriculum:
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children in the setting.
- Lead planning and delivery of a stimulating and inclusive curriculum in line with EYFS.
- Monitor and support children’s learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including learning journeys, observations, and assessments.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Conduct risk assessments and contribute to maintaining a safe environment.
- Administer first aid and medication as required and in line with policies.
Communication & Partnerships:
- Develop strong relationships with children, parents, carers, and professionals.
- Support effective communication between staff, families, and management.
- Participate in parent meetings, key person responsibilities, and transitional planning.
Administrative Duties:
- Assist with planning rotas, staff deployment, and maintaining staff ratios.
- Contribute to audits, inspections (including Ofsted), and action planning.
- Support with stock control, ordering, and nursery resources.

Pay: £31,500.00-£32,000.00 per year
