Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Café Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high standards of food safety. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop skills in a vibrant café environment, supporting daily operations and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. The role involves assisting with food and beverages, serving customers, and maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the café. Previous experience in a similar setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and speciality drinks, adhering to quality standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or snacks in line with health and safety regulations.
- Serve customers efficiently at the counter or table, ensuring a friendly and professional attitude at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and customer areas in accordance with food safety standards.
- Manage cash register operations accurately, including handling cash and card transactions.
- Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service throughout shifts.
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold food safety standards.
- Support team members during busy periods to deliver excellent customer service.
Experience
- Previous barista experience or working in a café environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for those new to the role.
- Knowledge of food safety practices is preferred to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Experience in serving customers with professionalism and courtesy is advantageous.
- Good time management skills are essential for prioritising tasks during busy periods.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
