Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Children’s Home Residential Support Worker to provide compassionate care and support to children within a residential setting in Croydon. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing environment, fostering positive development, and ensuring the well-being of each child. This role involves working closely with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver personalised care plans and support their individual needs.
Our home is an Ofsted-registered learning disabilities children’s home for children aged 8 to 17. We are currently recruiting for full-time, part-time and sleep-in staff to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Assist children with daily routines, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and recreational activities.
- Support children in developing life skills and socialisation through engaging activities and guidance.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering to health and safety policies and procedures.
- Implement and review individualised care plans in collaboration with relevant professionals.
- Foster positive relationships with children, promoting their emotional well-being and self-esteem.
- Encourage participation in educational and extracurricular activities to support holistic development.
- Record observations, incidents, and progress accurately in accordance with organisational policies.
- Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, families, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support.
- Assist with transportation as required, including driving children to appointments or activities when necessary.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in a childcare or residential setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child development principles and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with children, families, and professional teams.
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting children safely between locations.
Training and development
We are looking for candidates who are prepared to work towards, or already hold, the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. This qualification is the recognised standard for people working in residential childcare settings, and it is expected for newly appointed staff in children’s homes to achieve it within two years of employment.nqual.co+1
Previous experience is preferred, but not essential. Full induction, shadowing and ongoing training will be provided to support you in developing the skills and confidence needed for the role.

Pay: £25,420.00-£37,123.86 per year
