Are you a Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys improving processes, solving complex manufacturing challenges and using data to drive performance?
We're looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business in Northampton. Working closely with Operations, Quality, Design and Maintenance, you'll play a key role in developing robust manufacturing processes, improving production performance and helping the business move towards greater digital manufacturing, traceability and process control.
This is a hands-on role where you'll spend time on the shop floor, working alongside production teams to identify bottlenecks, improve process capability and implement practical engineering solutions that increase capacity while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

What you'll be doing
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, Control Plans, standard work, process instructions and manufacturing documentation.
- Review and improve manufacturing processes to increase safety, quality, productivity and efficiency.
- Support the introduction of new products, processes, tooling and equipment into production.
- Analyse production data, OEE, downtime, scrap, cycle times and process performance to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support the development of manufacturing systems, shop floor data capture, digital traceability and production visibility.
- Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and continuous improvement principles to reduce waste and improve capacity.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Design and Maintenance teams to implement practical engineering solutions.
- Support the design and implementation of tooling, jigs, fixtures and manufacturing aids.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operators, ensuring new processes are successfully embedded into production.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer or Production Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience developing PFMEAs, Control Plans, work instructions and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience with manufacturing systems, MES, production data capture, traceability or digital manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs including OEE, TAKT, cycle time, downtime, scrap and rework.
- Experience using data to identify issues and drive process improvements.
- Knowledge of SPC, Minitab, Power BI or similar analytical tools would be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and manufacturing specifications.
- Practical experience of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, A3, 5 Whys and Poka-Yoke.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across Operations, Quality, Design and Maintenance.
- Six Sigma qualification and project management experience would be beneficial.
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00am - 4:30pm, Friday 08:00am - 3:30pm.
