About the Role
We are currently recruiting an experienced Band 6 Children's Speech and Language Therapist to join a dedicated Community Children's Therapy team. This exciting opportunity will support a waiting list initiative, delivering initial assessments for children within Community Services and the Early Years Complex Needs pathway.
This role offers flexible working, with both full-time and part-time applications welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive speech, language and communication assessments for children referred to Community and Early Years Complex Needs services.
- Assess and identify speech, language, communication and swallowing needs where appropriate.
- Develop evidence-based clinical recommendations and management plans.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, nurseries and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.
- Manage a varied caseload independently while maintaining high clinical standards.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with NHS policies and professional standards.
- Adhere to HCPC, RCSLT and NHS professional standards at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or recognised equivalent qualification).
- Current HCPC Registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Significant post-graduate experience working with children with speech, language and communication needs.
- Experience assessing children with complex communication difficulties, including developmental language disorders and stammering.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams across health, education and community settings.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous NHS Community Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy experience.
- Experience working within Early Years Complex Needs services.
- Experience delivering parent training, coaching programmes or professional education sessions.
- Knowledge of current national guidance relating to children's speech and language therapy services.
- Experience participating in clinical audit, service development and quality improvement initiatives.
