Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Horticulturalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for garden maintenance, with a strong understanding of horticultural practices.
We maintain gardens around the South East and London.
Duties
- Carry out a wide range of horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks to main gardens and sites to the highest standards.
- Operate a variety of small garden machinery and compact tractors safely, including but not limited to pedestrian and ride on mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers and other horticultural equipment.
- Carry out all aspects of horticultural mainteance using hand tools such as digging, planting, staking, mulching, watering, deadheading, weeding, and seasonal pruning.
- Identify a wide range of trees, shrubs, herbeceous perennials, annuals, grasses and weeds, ensuring that appropriate maintenance techniques are applied throughout the year.
- Monitor the health and conditions of plants, identifying pets, diseases, nutrient deficiencies and environmental stresses, reporting concerns and implementing appropritate control measures when authorised.
- Support biodiversity through habitat menagement, wildlife friendly gardening practises and sustainable horticultural techniques.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring workis areas are left clean, tidyt and safe at all times.
Skill
- Key experiance in beds and boarder works.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and irrigation equipment essential for horticultural tasks.
- Growing experience with a variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Strong knowledge of gardening techniques and maintenance practices.
- Ability to identify plant health issues such as pests or diseases and apply suitable remedies.
- Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure precise execution of tasks.
- Excellent teamwork skills along with the ability to work independently when required.
- A recognised qualification or background in horticulture or related fields is required.
- Full driving licence is required due to use of company vehicles.
