Kelwel Care is looking for a passionate and dedicated Residential Children Support Worker to join our established children's home in Letchworth Garden City.
Our home is the sister home to our Ofsted Outstanding-rated children's home and is built on the same values of providing exceptional therapeutic care, stability, and positive outcomes for children and young people. As we continue to grow, we're looking for caring, committed individuals who want to make a real difference every day.
Role Overview:
You will be working in a solo placement with a young person up to 18 years old. You will play a vital role in supporting and helping them to build confidence, life skills, and resilience in a safe and supportive environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with young people to support their emotional and social development.
- Support daily routines, including meals, education, and activities.
- Create a safe, nurturing environment where young people feel secure and valued.
- Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
- Maintain accurate records including logs, reports, and incident forms.
- Participate in household tasks like cooking and cleaning when applicable.
- Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in care or support roles with young people.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and behaviour support.
- Education: Qualifications in youth work, social care, or a related field (NVQ Level 3 preferred)
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate young people.
- Attributes: Energetic, patient, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting youth development.
- Requirements: A full UK driving licence and a clear Enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete one.
