Summary of role
The Senior Graphic Designer is the guardian of the visual identity across the Wyld Group. In this hybrid role, you will act as the principal creative, defining the brand guidelines, aesthetic tone, and packaging standards for Warcradle Studios, Kraken Wargaming, Occam, and Wayland Games. Simultaneously, you will step up as an operational leader, managing, mentoring, and scheduling work for the graphic design team to ensure all group requests are delivered on time, to a flawless commercial standard.
Key Responsibilities & Day-to-Day Expectations
- Creative Direction & Brand Stewardship: Establish, evolve, and police the brand identity guidelines for all group companies. Ensure visual continuity across product packaging, trade catalogs, retail spaces, and digital media.
- Team Leadership & Workflow Traffic Control: Lead, mentor, and inspire the graphic design team (including the Editorial and Junior Designers). Manage the internal project ticketing queue, assign tasks fairly, and remove production bottlenecks.
- High-Impact Asset Creation: Personally execute high-level design assets, including flagship product packaging, Kickstarter/crowdfunding layouts, corporate B2B presentations for Occam, and marquee event assets for global trade shows.
- Quality Assurance & Pre-Flight Approval: Review and sign off on all assets produced by the junior design team before deployment. Ensure strict adherence to color profiles, typography, and technical print/digital specifications.
- Cross-Departmental Synergy: Act as the primary creative partner to the Group Marketing Manager, Events Manager, Studio Leads, and Occam Trade team to scope and execute major asset rollouts.
A Typical Day Includes:
- Chairing the morning design stand-up meeting to review the team's daily priorities, reallocating urgent banner requests to Junior Designers.
- Working on the typography and box-art layout for a major, unannounced Warcradle Studios starter set.
- Reviewing and signing off on a series of retail POS banners created by a Junior Designer for Occam Distribution.
- Meeting with the Events Executive to finalise the large-format print specifications for the UK Games Expo booth.
Performance Measures (KPIs):
- Project Delivery Rate: Meeting 100% of internal production and campaign deadlines across the design queue.
- Brand Consistency: Complete visual alignment across all active marketing campaigns, product launches, and retail channels.
- Team Development: Measurable skill growth, efficiency, and high morale within the graphic design team.
Requirements & Technical Skills
- Experience: Multiple years of professional graphic design experience, with some of those in a team leadership position, with traffic-management capacity. Experience in tabletop gaming, toy packaging, or entertainment industries is highly desirable.
- Software Mastery: Expert-level fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, with a heavy emphasis on the Adobe suite and Canva
- Production Expertise: Knowledge of print processes, packaging, digital formats is a must spanning social and e-commerce.
- Leadership Qualities: Excellent interpersonal skills, a calm demeanor under tight deadlines, and a proven ability to provide constructive, growth-oriented feedback to junior creatives.
