Community Link Worker
Hours: 24 hours weekly – (Tue-Fri)
Salary: £13.09 p/h
Friendship at home – is a charity dedicated to supporting older people across North East Lincolnshire (NEL). We believe that no older person should experience loneliness and that everyone should have opportunities to engage with their community.
We provide an established befriending service, social and exercise activities, and information and advice on a wide range of issues. Although we have grown considerably over the past 20 years and now support more than 2,000 service users (members) annually, we remain committed to our founding principles of reducing loneliness and social isolation.
Our dedicated team of 20 staff members is supported by more than 120 volunteers who help deliver our services across the community.
The Community Link Worker will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the befriending service. This includes ensuring that everyone accessing the service receives a wellbeing assessment and that appropriate support, information, and signposting are provided where required. The role involves close collaboration with the Volunteer Link Worker, who is responsible for the recruitment, support, coordination, and management of volunteer befrienders.

Key Tasks for the Role
- Promote the organisation's mission, vision, and values at all times.
- Participate in the annual Performance and Development Review process and identify personal development objectives with your manager.
- Maintain professional knowledge and competence relevant to the role.
- Undertake relevant training, including statutory and mandatory training requirements.
- Take responsibility for agreed personal development activities.
- Seek appropriate supervision, support, and guidance from colleagues and managers when required.
- Comply with all relevant legislation, professional standards, codes of conduct, and FaH policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Fully participate in supervision sessions and team meetings as required.
Key Requirements for the Role
· Effectively Manage the Befriending Service
· Develop and support volunteer-led activities that engage isolated older people both in their homes and within community venues.
· Contribute to the development and promotion of a weekly programme of activities and social events, ensuring information is communicated to all service users.
· Work closely with the Volunteer Link Worker to match volunteers with members requiring befriending and volunteer support.
· Organise promotional and profile-raising events to attract new members.
· Competent literacy skills
· When required - Flexible availability, to work flexibly, including occasional changes to working hours, where required to meet service needs
· Use a variety of communication methods, including face-to-face contact, telephone, video conferencing, and email, to maintain effective communication with staff, partner agencies, volunteers, and service users.
· Ensure confidentiality is maintained in accordance with data protection legislation and FaH policies.
· Full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance and willing to have service users in own vehicle.
