To play a key leadership role in the delivery of services to Auckland House day nursery. Through the effective leadership support and direction of a designated team of practitioners and trainees. The senior/unit leader will have key input into early years development.
To assist the Nursery Management team in ensuring that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive a rich stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development. In the absence of the Deputy, to support the Nursery Manager with overall day-to-day requirements of the nursery. The role offers the successful candidate a clear career pathway to senior day nursery management opportunities.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To support best practice in the designated age range and the work of nursery practitioners of designated unit/s. Supporting the effective delivery of a structured and focused team through training and supervision opportunities.
Childcare and Education:
- Assist the Deputy manager in promoting high standards within the nursery regarding the environment and resources for children, experiences offered to children and planning and record keeping.
- To keep fully informed if initiatives in best practice for the designated age group and stages of development.
- To co-ordinate room briefings
- Contribute and take responsibility for any designated continuous nursery development and improvement targets plans.
- To maintain designated resources and carry out audits and risk assessments
- Support the development of good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion
- Assist the manager in ensuring compliance with the statutory framework for the EYFS or relevant statutory regulations for Child Protection.
- Be fully versed in all nursery procedures and policies
- Assist the Management team in ensuring that they key person procedures are followed in line with nursery policies and EYFS
- To report on activities linked to key objectives of the nursery development plan as appropriate.
- Undertake and fully participate and relevant training identified.
Health and Safety:
- Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the unit.
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g. fire precautions, security, dropping off and collection of children..
- Together with the H &S coordinator, audit, evaluate and manage the risk and ensure that any actions given are passed to staff and implemented immediately.
Operational:
- Assist the management team with the effective day to day management of the nursery.
- Assist the Manager/Deputy Manager in the day to day running of the nursery in either of their absences.
- Ensure excellent levels of communication exist between staff in the unit and with the nursery leadership team.
