Factory Manager

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated factory manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our glulam beam manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on management role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of engineered timber products while leading and developing our factory team.
The successful candidate will work closely with the office team, project managers, and site installation crews to ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the factory, ensuring delivery dates are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Lead, motivate and develop the factory workforce, promoting a positive and productive working environment.
- Take overall responsibility for Health & Safety within the factory, ensuring compliance with all legislation, company policies and safe working practices.
- Maintain and develop an effective and robust quality management system.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Work collaboratively with office staff on production planning, procurement and project scheduling.
- Liaise with site installation teams to ensure products are manufactured correctly, delivered on time and any issues are resolved promptly.
- Monitor machine and tooling maintenance and servicing.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste and increase operational efficiency.
- Manage stock levels of consumables.
- Ensure all production records, quality documentation and Health & Safety records are maintained accurately.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a Factory Manager, Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager role.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience implementing and maintaining quality management standards.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production staff, office teams and site personnel.
- A proactive, practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Experience within timber engineering would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other manufacturing backgrounds will also be considered.
