Rylands Nursing home in Newport are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our Team
11.5 hours per week alternate weekends. Shift times include 0900-1430 and 1600-1900. Currently we have 1 morning shift and 2 evening shifts available per week.
Salary: £12.71 per hour
Duties include:
- Washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
- Preparing basic ingredients (e.g., weighing and measuring).
- Assisting the cook with simple cooking tasks.
- Cleaning kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
- Washing dishes, pots, and pans (manually or using a dishwasher).
- Ensuring all food preparation areas are clean and hygienic.
- Unpacking and storing deliveries.
- Checking stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Rotating stock to minimize waste
- Keeping kitchen bins clean and emptied regularly.
- Following food hygiene and safety guidelines.
- Refilling supplies and restocking items during busy periods.
