The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading international contractor on a major £200m+ Data Centre development in Dunstable.
This flagship project will run for approximately 2.5 to 3 years and offers the successful candidate the chance to gain invaluable experience on one of the UK's most significant mission-critical developments. Working alongside an experienced commercial team, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from enabling works through to commissioning and handover.
The business has a strong pipeline of secured Data Centre projects across the UK, making this an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their career within a growing and highly specialised sector.
The Role
Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day commercial management of the project while gaining exposure to all aspects of cost control and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
- Support the preparation of valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Help monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts.
- Review subcontractor applications and payment assessments.
- Assist with monthly cost reporting and commercial performance reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and commercial documentation.
- Support contract administration and change management procedures.
- Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Assist in identifying risks, opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
About You
- Degree qualified, or currently studying towards, a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a main contractor environment, either through a placement year or post-graduate role.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ambitious and motivated to progress within a commercial career.
- Experience on commercial, industrial, logistics, manufacturing or major construction projects would be advantageous.
- Data Centre experience is not essential.

Pay: From £40,000.00 per year
