We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Upholstery Fabric Cutter to join our production team.
The Role
Working within our upholstery department, you will be responsible for accurately marking and cutting fabric, leather, and other upholstery materials for our bespoke adjustable chairs and beds. Every product is made to order, so attention to detail and pride in your work are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Mark and cut upholstery fabrics and leathers by hand using patterns and templates.
- Ensure all fabric pieces are cut accurately to specification with minimal waste.
- Understand and maintain fabric direction, pile, grain, and texture throughout the cutting process.
- Pattern match fabrics where required to ensure a high-quality finished product.
- Identify and work around faults or imperfections in fabrics and leathers.
- Prepare cut components for the upholstery department.
- Work from production schedules and bespoke customer specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Support continuous improvement and maintain high quality standards.
About You
Previous experience as an upholstery cutter or in a similar furniture manufacturing role is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience marking and cutting upholstery fabrics by hand.
- A good understanding of fabric patterns, repeats, pile direction, grain, stretch, and texture.
- Experience working with a variety of upholstery fabrics and leather.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to read patterns and production paperwork.
- Fabric CNC experience would be an advantage.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team.
