Shift Pattern: Typically 2 days on, including sleep-ins, followed by 3 days off

Blue Compass Care is looking for a Team leader to join our dedicated team at our multi-bed children’s residential home in Manchester.
We provide care and support for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), creating a safe, caring and structured home environment where young people can develop, build confidence and work towards positive outcomes.
About the Role
As a Team leader , you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the home.
You will work directly with the young people in our care while also taking a lead role on shift, supporting other team members and helping to maintain a safe, consistent and nurturing environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building positive, trusting and professional relationships with children and young people
- Supporting young people with their individual care plans, goals and personal development
- Providing consistent emotional and practical support through both positive and challenging situations
- Leading by example and supporting Residential Support Workers during shifts
- Promoting independence, confidence, education and life skills
- Supporting young people to take part in activities, appointments and community-based opportunities
- Maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming and homely environment
- Completing daily records, reports and other documentation accurately and professionally
- Working collaboratively with families, social workers, schools and other professionals
- Supporting safeguarding procedures and maintaining professional boundaries
- Taking part in sleep-in shifts as part of the rota
What We’re Looking For
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 12 months’ experience working within an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or an accepted equivalent qualification
- Candidates who are close to completing their Level 3 Diploma may also be considered
- A full UK driving licence, as you may be required to transport young people and attend appointments or meetings
- A good understanding of safeguarding and the needs of children and young people in residential care
- The confidence to provide leadership and guidance to colleagues while on shift
- A calm, resilient, compassionate and child-centred approach
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- The ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts
The anticipated rota will typically operate on a 2 days on, 3 days off pattern, including sleep-ins. Rotas will be provided in advance.
