Wall-lag is a family owned and operated business which has been in operation since 1974, based in Mold, North Wales. Originally providing insulation, the company expanded into manufacturing and installing double glazed doors, windows and conservatories then in 2008 it diversified into renewable technology and Heating installations. In recent years the renewable activity has increased significantly installing Air Source Heat pumps, Solar PV and EV charging stations.
The company has a number of contracts with local housing associations and utility providers to support them in delivering their renewable energy strategies.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and detail-driven Gas Installation Surveyor & QC to join our growing team. This isn’t just about ticking boxes — it’s about making sure every installation is safe, compliant, and completed to the highest possible standard.
You’ll be the person who ensures our customers get quality work they can trust, from the first survey right through to final sign-off.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out pre-installation surveys for domestic gas works (boilers, heating systems, etc.)
- Producing accurate, practical installation specifications for engineers
- Conducting post-installation quality checks to ensure work meets required standards
- Ensuring compliance with Gas Safe regulations and company procedures
- Identifying and resolving issues before, during, and after installs
- Supporting engineers with technical guidance where needed
- Maintaining clear and accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Acting as a key link between customers, engineers, and the wider team
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in gas installation surveying and/or quality control
- Current Gas Safe registration (essential)
- Strong technical knowledge of heating systems and installation practices
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to high standards
- Great communication skills — able to deal confidently with customers and colleagues
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to manage your own workload and work independently

Pay: £38,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
