About the Role
We are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join our Alternative Provision setting supporting pupils who require structured, relational, and highly consistent educational support.
This is an active, hands-on role where you will support learning, behaviour, safeguarding, and emotional regulation. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure pupils can access education in a safe and structured environment.
Key Purpose
To support pupils’ learning, behaviour, and welfare so they are able to engage positively in education, develop self-regulation, and progress academically, socially, and emotionally.
What You Will Do
Learning Support
- Support delivery of learning activities under teacher direction
- Work with individuals and small groups to improve engagement and progress
- Help prepare resources and adapt activities to meet learner needs
Behaviour & Engagement
- Support consistent behaviour expectations and routines
- Help pupils re-engage when dysregulated or disengaged
- Apply agreed behaviour strategies calmly and consistently
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Maintain a strong safeguarding focus at all times
- Follow procedures and report concerns immediately
- Contribute to a safe, structured environment for all pupils
SEND & Inclusion
- Support pupils with additional needs and EHCPs under guidance
- Assist with personal care where required and appropriate
- Enable access to learning through tailored support
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and leaders
- Share accurate observations of pupil progress and behaviour
- Contribute to a consistent and professional team culture

- Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, care or similar)
- Calm, consistent, and resilient approach to behaviour support
- Ability to build professional relationships while maintaining boundaries
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Strong communication skills
