About the Role
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly team in our care home. You will play an important role in providing nutritious, well-balanced, and appetising meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
Working closely with the Home Manager and care team, you will ensure that all meals are prepared to a high standard while maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals for residents in accordance with planned menus.
- Cater for special dietary requirements, allergies, cultural preferences, and modified texture diets.
- Ensure high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety are maintained at all times.
- Manage food stock, place orders, and minimise waste.
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain accurate food safety records.
- Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
- Work within allocated budgets while maintaining quality and nutritional standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked kitchen.
- Work collaboratively with the care team to ensure residents enjoy a positive dining experience.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a cook or chef, preferably within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment.
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for older adults.
- A current Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above), or willingness to obtain one.
- Good understanding of food safety and infection control procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A caring and compassionate approach with a genuine interest in improving residents' wellbeing.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
