Pharmacy Counter Assistant / Trainee Dispenser

The Mound Pharmacy is a modern, community-focused pharmacy seeking an intelligent, friendly and self-motivated individual to join our professional team.
Previous pharmacy or dispensing experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided. The successful applicant should have excellent customer-service skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and contribute to the pharmacy’s continued growth.
Main Responsibilities
- Serving patients politely, sensitively and efficiently.
- Receiving prescriptions and helping with charge and exemption declarations.
- Operating the till and processing cash and card payments accurately.
- Handing out completed prescriptions following the appropriate checks.
- Recommending suitable over-the-counter products within your competence.
- Referring patients to the pharmacist when professional advice is required.
- Supporting the dispensary team with routine prescription duties.
- Checking and putting away deliveries.
- Assisting with stock control, rotation and expiry-date checks.
- Promoting NHS and private services, including Pharmacy First, vaccinations and smoking cessation.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised pharmacy.
- Completing general administrative duties and following all pharmacy procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Reliable, organised and attentive to detail.
- Comfortable using computers and till systems.
- Able to work effectively within a busy team.
- Willing to complete relevant pharmacy training.
- Able to travel reliably to The Mound Pharmacy, SE9 3AZ.
A Medicines Counter Assistant, Pharmacy Services or dispensing qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. Retail, healthcare or customer-service experience would also be beneficial.
