Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Premises Manager to oversee the upkeep, safety, and IT infrastructure of our school. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical and mechanical knowledge, project management, It infrastructure and leadership. This role requires the ability to manage various projects while supervising a team to ensure that all premises are maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Premises Management
- Ensure the school premises are clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times
- Conduct regular health & safety checks, risk assessments, and manage compliance records
- Oversee repairs, maintenance, and servicing of facilities (e.g. heating, lighting, plumbing, security)
- Supervise contractors and cleaning staff
- Manage school site security, including opening/locking up the building
- Maintain inventories and order maintenance-related supplies
- Responding to Alarms and liaising with authorities when needed
- Maintaining the CCTV system and Alarm system
- Preparing and setting up for events (Tables, chairs, stages...)
- Liaising with external bookings of the premises ensuring compliance with all regulations
- Line managing the care taker and cleaning staff, conducting regular performance reviews and quality assurance of work
- To be on site to supervise contractors, especially during student holidays
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in premises or site management
- Strong practical skills (basic plumbing, electrical, and DIY skills desirable)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Respect for the Islamic ethos of the school
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a school setting
- Knowledge of health & safety regulations in educational settings
- Relevant qualifications in premises or facilities management
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
