The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team. This role plays a key part in delivering a consistent, efficient, timely and accurate finance, payroll and administration service to our Primary Care Networks, GP practices and internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will support a wide range of finance functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank reconciliations and management reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable activities and ensure suppliers are paid in line with agreed payment terms.
- Process bank payments to employees, locums and suppliers.
- Monitor incoming funds and allocate payments appropriately.
- Raise and issue customer invoices accurately and promptly.
- Prepare recharge invoices and submit claims where required.
- Manage credit control activities and minimise overdue debt.
- Post financial journals and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure sufficient funds are available to meet planned expenditure.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly management accounts.
- Support payroll and pension administration processes.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure financial information is received within required deadlines.
- Provide a professional first point of contact for finance-related enquiries.
- Produce financial reports, spreadsheets and correspondence as required.
- Support year-end finance activities and reporting requirements.
- Participate in Profit & Loss meetings, providing financial support and guidance where appropriate.
- Deliver high-quality administrative support to colleagues, managers and directors.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
- Contribute positively to team objectives and support wider organisational priorities.
About YouEssential Experience
- Experience working within a finance or accounts environment.
- Experience processing payroll.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Good numeracy, literacy and communication skills.
- Understanding of data governance, confidentiality, GDPR and secure data handling principles.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within the healthcare sector.
- Experience processing payroll using Sage 50.
- Experience using financial/accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Essential : At least 2 years experience of Payroll processing-desirable Sage 50
