Iconic Engineering Solutions Ltd is a growing precision engineering company based in Grantham.
We manufacture high-quality machined components for customers operating across motorsport, automotive, aerospace, defence, space and advanced manufacturing.
We have recently secured a new contract to manufacture precision components for satellite applications, adding another technically demanding sector to the wide range of industries we support.
Our work ranges from one-off prototypes and development components through to repeat production batches. The parts we manufacture are often complex, tightly toleranced and used in applications where quality, accuracy and reliability are critical.
We machine a wide variety of materials, including:

- Titanium
- Brass and copper
- Engineering plastics
- Carbon-fibre and composite materials
Our workshop includes CNC milling, CNC turning, mill-turn and 3D-printing capabilities, giving our team exposure to a broad and varied range of engineering work.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our expanding team in Grantham.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to manufacture accurate components from engineering drawings and customer specifications.
Depending on experience, the role may also include CNC programming, process planning, tooling selection and the development of efficient workholding and machining methods.
This is not a role where you will simply load the same component every day. You will work across different industries, materials and component types, including precision parts for motorsport, aerospace, defence and satellite applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC milling and turning machines.
- Manufacture components for motorsport, automotive, aerospace, defence, satellite and advanced-manufacturing customers.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications.
- Program or edit CNC programs where competent.
- Select suitable cutting tools, fixtures and workholding equipment.
- Carry out machine setups and establish accurate datums and tool offsets.
- Complete first-off and in-process inspection using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Monitor machining operations to maintain quality, accuracy and efficiency.
- Make controlled adjustments to tooling offsets and machining parameters.
- Identify and resolve machining, tooling and quality issues.
- Deburr, clean and prepare completed components for inspection or dispatch.
- Complete relevant production, inspection and quality documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Work with the wider team to improve machining processes and reduce production times.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC machinery.
- Experience in CNC milling, CNC turning or both.
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- A good understanding of tolerances, surface finishes and geometric dimensions.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and height gauges.
- A practical understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds and machining processes.
- The ability to work accurately and take responsibility for the quality of completed work.
- A methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Experience with CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, live tooling, sub-spindle machines or multi-axis machining would be advantageous but is not essential.
