Job Description: Afternoon Shift Warehouse Operative
Shift: 14:00 – 22:00 (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £27,289.60 per annum
Location: APLE Transport Solutions, MK43 OUT
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Purpose of the Role
To ensure the safe, accurate, and timely handling of goods during overnight operations, including trailer loading/unloading, pallet processing, and vehicle preparation. The role supports continuity across logistics flows and contributes to maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Trailer Operations
- Unload and load inbound/outbound trailers (including Fortec, Nexans, and Pallet Network)
- Ensure correct pallet placement and secure loading practices
- Pallet Handling
- Scan, label, and mark pallets accurately for dispatch or storage
- Process returns and prepare outbound pallets for next-day delivery
- Vehicle Preparation
- Assist with double decker opening and van loading as required
- Support early morning dispatch readiness (John Lewis, Waitrose, etc.)
- Storage & Picking
- Pick and stage storage pallets for next-day operations
- Maintain clear and safe bay areas throughout the shift
- Documentation & Systems
- Use scanning equipment and systems to record pallet movements
- Complete shift logs and handover notes for continuity
- Team Support
- Collaborate with day and evening teams during shift overlap
- Assist colleagues when available and contribute to a respectful, fair team culture
Skills & Requirements
- Experience in warehouse or logistics operations preferred
- Valid forklift or MHE certification desirable
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Willingness to support team rotation and cross-training initiatives
Additional Notes
- PPE must be worn at all times
- Role includes physical tasks and prolonged sitting and standing
