We are seeking a dedicated Youth Justice Officer to join our dynamic Youth Justice Service on a 3-month contract. This role is crucial in supporting children and young people who have offended or are at risk of offending. As part of a multi-agency team, you will work to facilitate positive changes and reduce future involvement in the criminal justice system. Your collaboration with families, schools, courts, police, probation, health services, and other partner agencies will be vital in assessing risk, promoting safeguarding, and delivering effective interventions to improve outcomes for young people.

Manage a caseload of children and young people involved with the Youth Justice Service.

Conduct assessments of need, risk, vulnerability, and offending behavior.

Supervise young people subject to court orders and out-of-court interventions.

Develop and implement intervention plans to reduce offending and reoffending.

Prepare risk, safety, and wellbeing plans to safeguard children and others.

Collaborate with Police, Probation, Education, Health, Courts, and other agencies.

Interview and assess young people, parents, and carers using recognized assessment tools.

Deliver individual and group-based programs and interventions.

Support and advise parents and carers.
-
Ensure cases are managed in accordance with National and Local Standards.

Prepare reports for Youth Court, Magistrates Court, and Crown Court proceedings.

Represent the service at court hearings, police stations, and multi-agency meetings.

Maintain accurate case records and documentation.

Promote safeguarding, welfare, and positive outcomes for children and young people.
Requirements:

Relevant professional qualification or degree in:

Social Work

Probation Studies

Youth Justice Effective Practice

Youth & Community Work

Criminal Justice or a related discipline

Experience working directly with children, young people, and families.

Experience undertaking assessments of need, risk, and safeguarding concerns.

Knowledge of Youth Justice legislation, standards, and best practice.

Experience developing intervention and support plans.

Strong report-writing and case management skills.

Experience working within a multi-agency environment.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Previous Youth Justice Service experience.

Local Authority experience.

Court report writing experience.

Experience representing services within court environments.

Knowledge of restorative justice approaches.

Strong assessment and analytical skills.
