Job Overview
We are seeking dedicated and skilled Grill Chefs to join our dynamic culinary team in both our Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells sites, the busiest and most popular independent burger pub/restaurants in the towns, Saint Johns Yard and The Holy Goat. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a high-quality burger menu alongside fresh salads and street food-style sides, in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and culinary arts to develop their skills and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful applicant will be committed to maintaining food safety standards and ensuring customer satisfaction through efficient meal preparation. As a member of our kitchen team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, including running the pass and organising orders, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards while fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Must have food hygiene certificate (level 2), and be highly proficient in written and spoken English.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, ordering, food preparation, menu design, and presentation of dishes.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene within the kitchen.
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring that all meals are prepared on time and to specification.
- Help train new kitchen staff in culinary techniques and restaurant procedures.
- Collaborate with other team members to create innovative dishes that enhance the dining experience.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies as necessary to maintain stock.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment is essential.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary arts, and kitchen operations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team effectively.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management.
- Excellent communication skills with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
