Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and efficient Vehicle Mechanic to prepare, service, and repair stock for our busy car sales yard. You will ensure all incoming vehicles are structurally sound, mechanically safe, and ready for retail sale. Your role is critical in maintaining our dealership’s reputation for quality, reliable vehicles.Key Responsibilities
- Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI): Perform strict multi-point safety and quality checks on newly acquired stock.
- Fault Diagnosis: Use advanced OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- General Repairs: Execute mechanical fixes including brakes, suspension, clutches, timing belts, and exhausts.
- Routine Servicing: Conduct standard fluid changes, filter replacements, and component updates before cars reach the sales forecourt.
- Road Testing: Test vehicles before and after repairs to guarantee optimal performance and drivability.
- Inventory Liaison: Work alongside the valeting and sales teams to fast-track vehicles through preparation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years working in a dealership workshop or independent garage environment.
- Licence: A valid, clean UK driving licence is required to conduct road tests and move stock safely.
- Speed & Accuracy: Ability to work efficiently to minimise the time stock sits offline before being listed for sale.
- Tooling: Possession of a comprehensive personal toolkit appropriate for daily automotive repair tasks.
- Desirable: An active MOT Testing qualification is highly preferred
