The Role
You will work as a First Contact Practitioner within GP practices and Primary Care settings across LS10 and LS11, providing expert assessment, diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal conditions at the first point of contact.
Working as an autonomous practitioner, you will:
- Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of MSK presentations.
- Formulate evidence-based management plans.
- Request and interpret investigations where appropriate.
- Support patients through education, self-management and shared decision making.
- Refer appropriately within the MDT and local healthcare pathways.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Build strong relationships with GPs, practice staff and wider healthcare teams.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Help improve patient access whilst reducing GP workload.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can quickly adapt to Primary Care environments, build strong professional relationships and consistently deliver outstanding patient-centred care.
Essential
- HCPC Registered Physiotherapist.
- Significant postgraduate MSK experience.
- Previous experience working within an FCP or Advanced MSK role.
- Strong clinical reasoning and autonomous decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
- Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care and shared decision making.
- Professional indemnity insurance.
- Existing legal right to work in the UK and be eligible to work without employer sponsorship, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Desirable
- Stage 2 FCP Roadmap completed or currently working towards completion.
- Experience working within Primary Care or GP practices.
- Injection Therapy qualification
- Independent Prescribing qualification
- Experience supporting service development or pathway improvement
- Interest in education, mentoring or developing colleagues.
