Overview
We are expanding our team and are seeking a dedicated and passionate Prep Chef to join our egg-cellent team as we ramp up for the busy summer! The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting in meal assembly, and supporting the kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in food preparation and culinary arts to develop their skills within a professional kitchen environment. The Prep Chef will play a vital part in maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, contributing to the overall dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning as required for daily menus
- Assist in the assembly of dishes according to specified recipes and presentation standards
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods to ensure timely meal preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure all food items are stored correctly and labelled appropriately to prevent cross-contamination
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors of shortages or expiry dates
- Follow all health and safety procedures diligently to uphold a safe working environment
- Support the broader kitchen team with additional tasks as needed to ensure efficient operation
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation or working within a professional kitchen environment is desirable
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Basic cooking skills with an understanding of meal preparation techniques
- Experience in restaurant or catering settings is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and assist with various kitchen duties as required
