Background
Obsidian is a new entrant to the intermediary platform market and is currently in the final stages of its FCA application to provide custody and execution services to advisers.
We are looking to build a skilled team that will help establish our operational framework and provide the foundations for the business as we continue to grow. This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at an early stage and play a meaningful role in shaping how our operations develop.
Purpose
To perform the day-to-day operational administration of Obsidian Securities Limited's MiFID business (GIA and ISA products), covering the full client lifecycle from onboarding and AML/KYC checks through to ongoing account administration, trade execution & settlement, and client servicing. The role carries direct responsibility for completing the firm's client money and custody asset reconciliations under CASS 6 and CASS 7.
The post-holder is expected to work within defined procedures and published SLAs, referring cases outside standard processing to the Head of Operations in the first instance, and escalating to Compliance or the Board only where policy decisions, contentious cases, or regulatory judgement calls arise.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in operational administration within a regulated financial services firm, covering client onboarding, AML/KYC, and general account administration.
- Experience performing client money and/or custody asset reconciliations, with a clear understanding of segregation of duties in a controlled environment.
- Working knowledge of applicable anti-money laundering requirements and the FCA's CASS 6 and CASS 7 sourcebooks.
- Ability to manage a workload against SLAs within defined procedures, referring cases outside standard processing to the Head of Operations.
- Good understanding of the Consumer Duty regulations
Desirable Requirements
- Experience administering ISA products, including familiarity with the applicable ISA regulatory framework.
- Experience with financial crime prevention including automated AML checks
- Experience preparing MI and reporting to governance committees.
Technical Attributes
- Experience in financial services operations, administration, or reconciliations within a regulated environment.
- Strong Excel skills, with the ability to work accurately with data from multiple sources.
- High attention to detail, particularly in relation to regulatory deadlines and reconciliation accuracy.
- Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, liaising with clients, advisers, and internal colleagues.
- Good understanding of operational risk and control principles, including segregation of duties.
- Proactive mindset and willingness to develop knowledge of the relevant regulatory framework
- Highly organised and reliable, with a results-orientated approach to task completion.
Salary is dependent on the candidate but ranges from £35-£45k per annum
This is a remote first position, you will be required to attend the London office periodically.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
