Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our chef in delivering high-quality meals and exceptional service. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their skills within a dynamic food service environment. The successful candidate will assist with meal preparation, food safety, and maintaining a clean and organised kitchen space. Prior experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant settings is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Support the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organisation of work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Ensure food safety standards are adhered to at all times, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
- Help with basic cooking tasks under supervision, gaining practical culinary experience
- Serve meals to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying supervisors of shortages or expired items
- Follow health and safety regulations diligently to ensure a safe working environment for all staff
Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm for learning is essential
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, safety standards, and kitchen hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute as part of a team
