Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner to join our team either on a full time or part time basis. Full time hours are on an 8 hour weekly shift pattern between the hours of 7am & 6pm. Part time hours are negatiable but candidates will need to have some level of flexibility to suit the needs of the business. The position is not available for anyone wanting term time only hours. The rate of pay is a starting wage for a level2 practitioner, on a full time basis. The higher the qualification, the higher the wage, and part time hours will be on a pro-rata basis.
Full time employee's receive 33 days holiday. Part time employee's will be pro-rata. 20 to take when you wish, 8 bank holidays, Christmas eve, birthadys, and 3 days between Christmas and new year if your working day falls on these days.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education and committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. Previous nursery experience and a strong understanding of child development are essential for success in this position.
Anyone who applies who does not have a level 2 or above qualification in Early Years will automatically be rejected. Please do not apply if you have health and social care as this is not a recognised qualification.
Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of children.
- Supervise children during playtime, mealtimes, and rest periods, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and daily routines in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
- Organise and lead group activities that support early childhood learning objectives.
- Manage daily nursery operations, including organising resources and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Support the professional development of junior staff members through guidance and leadership.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as planning schedules and updating documentation as required.
- Drive nursery vehicles when necessary for outings or transportation needs.
Skills
- A minimum of 1 years experience working within early years, demonstrating a sound understanding of early childhood education principles.
- Able to adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Follow safeguarding regulations.
- Childcare qualifications recognised within the UK (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Childcare or equivalent but not health and social care).
- Experience with nursery routines, behaviour management, and developmental assessments.
- Ability to organise activities that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and planning. This role offers an enriching environment for those passionate about nurturing young minds while developing their management expertise within a professional childcare setting.
