Job Summary
The Packaging Structural Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing carton board packaging solutions that meet customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and sustainability goals. This role involves creating innovative structural designs, producing technical drawings and prototypes, and collaborating with customers, sales, production, and printing teams to deliver cost-effective, functional, and visually appealing packaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop carton board packaging solutions for a wide range of products.
- Create structural concepts using CAD software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, Impact CAD, or similar).
- Produce detailed technical drawings, die-lines, and specifications for manufacturing.
- Develop prototypes and samples for customer evaluation and testing.
- Ensure designs meet customer requirements, quality standards, and production capabilities.
- Optimize packaging for material efficiency, strength, cost, and sustainability.
- Work closely with sales, production, printing, and quality teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Liaise with customers to understand packaging needs and provide technical design support.
- Conduct packaging performance testing and recommend improvements where necessary.
- Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.
- Stay updated on packaging trends, materials, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Packaging Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in structural packaging design, preferably with folding carton or carton board packaging.
- Proficiency in packaging CAD software such as ArtiosCAD, Impact CAD, or similar.
- Strong understanding of carton board materials, die-cutting, folding, gluing, and printing processes.
- Knowledge of packaging manufacturing methods and production constraints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
