Are you passionate about outdoor work and take pride in maintaining sports facilities for visitors to enjoy? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Grounds and Greens Keeper to join our Sports Team within Epping Forest.
Working across Chingford Golf Course and Wanstead Flats Playing Fields, you'll help maintain one of London's busiest public golf courses and a large portfolio of football pitches at the 2nd largest concentration of football pitches in Europe, ensuring they remain safe, presentable and ready for play throughout the year.
About the Role
As part of a dedicated grounds team, you will carry out a wide range of sports turf maintenance and greenkeeping duties, including:
Maintaining golf course greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and football pitches to a high standard.
Operating and maintaining a variety of specialist grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
Marking out football pitches and preparing sports facilities for matches and training.
Carrying out daily inspections, repairs and routine maintenance to playing surfaces.
Maintaining buildings, changing facilities and compounds to ensure they are clean, safe and welcoming.
Supporting the delivery of sporting events and providing excellent customer service to visitors and sports clubs.
This is a hands-on role requiring outdoor work throughout the year in all weather conditions.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience in sports turf maintenance, greenkeeping or grounds maintenance.
Holds an NVQ/SVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance (or equivalent).
Holds relevant NPTC/LANTRA qualifications, including tractor operation, brush cutter/strimmer and hedge trimmer certificates.
Holds PA1, PA2 and PA6 pesticide certificates (or equivalent).
Has experience operating and maintaining grounds maintenance machinery.
Holds a full UK driving licence.
Has good communication skills, basic IT knowledge and enjoys working as part of a team.
Takes pride in delivering high standards and providing excellent customer service.
