Job Description
In the role of Yard Shunter, you will contribute to the operation of our 15-acre site and be responsible for:
· Moving vehicles across our 3 yards in Stoke-on-Trent
· Ensuring the yard is always kept clean, tidy & presentable
· Ensuring vehicles are parked correctly and making good use of space
· Walk around checks including checking fuel levels
· Preparing vehicles for delivery
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles for safety, damage, or maintenance issues before moving them
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and yard activities
Person Specification
We are looking for an individual who is comfortable working under pressure and is experienced in Jump Starting and Changing Wheels. You will have the following skills and attributes, and your skills will help keep our operations running smoothly while providing a safe environment for everyone involved. We value proactive individuals who thrive in fast-paced settings and are eager to contribute their expertise.
- Proven experience in driving commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of yard operations and vehicle handling procedures
- Valid commercial driver’s license (Class 1) with a clean driving record
- Prior experience in a similar logistics role is preferred
- Ability to operate yard equipment safely and efficiently
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods
- Class 1 driving Licence Essential
- Forklift/Crane licence a bonus but not essential
Working Hours Monday to Friday 07.45am to 17.45pm
Salary £35,000.00 up to £40,000.00 dependent upon experience.
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
