Overview
BE Warehousing & Transport Limited is seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 HGV Driver (Tramper) to join our professional driving team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of HGV driving duties, primarily operating curtain-sided vehicles with occasional container work. This is a tramping role, requiring drivers to night out a maximum of 4 nights per week (Monday to Thursday). There is currently no weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 1 HGVs (mainly curtain-sided, occasional container work) in line with company and legal requirements.
- Complete deliveries and collections for our customer base, primarily in Ipswich, Felixstowe, and from our own warehouse.
- Maintain strict timings for delivery schedules and backload collections, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
- Accurately complete all relevant paperwork and digital administration as required.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
- Ensure goods are loaded and unloaded safely and securely.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the assigned vehicle (DAF XG equipped with fridge, microwave, and inverter).
- Comply with all road transport and working time regulations.
- Represent BE Warehousing & Transport Limited in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Key Requirements:
- Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) HGV licence.
- Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
- Experience with curtain-sided vehicles essential; container work experience desirable.
- Previous tramping experience preferred.
- Good understanding of UK driving regulations and working time directive.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism.
- Flexibility to night out up to 4 nights per week (Monday to Thursday).
- No more than 6 penalty points on driving licence, no DR/DD convictions.
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
