Apprentice Quantity Surveyor

We have the capability to take schemes from an initial concept right through design, manufacture, construction, handover and maintenance using our in-house resources. We are equally capable of undertaking minor track renewals/maintenance, right up to large multi-million pound, multi-disciplinary schemes.
About the Role
Trackwork are offering the opportunity to undertake a Level 6 Construction Quantity Surveyor Apprenticeship, based from our Doncaster (Kirk Sandall) Head Office.
The successful candidate will work within our Rail Contracting Division and will offer support to our existing Commercial Team.
Our existing Commercial Team will offer support and mentorship through your apprenticeship studies and through to the completion of your degree level qualification.
You will work towards the following responsibilities:
- Attend pre-award, pre-start, handover meetings, briefings etc as directed by line manager and advise on commercial / contractual matters.
- Manage the preparation and submission of estimates / prices to clients (in consultation with Rail Director or their delegated staff) in cases arising from contract variations, work instructions etc.
- Preparation and submission of application for payment / invoices in accordance with the agreed contract.
- Monitor customer payments against valuations for accuracy and timeliness and initiate action as required.
- Monitor contract costs against projected returns and appraise line manager and Rail Director of any developing problems.
- Authorisation of subcontractor / supplier invoices in a timely manner.
- Prepare monthly reports.
Requirements
- GCSE (or equivalent) maths and English at Grade C, 4 or above, although we may waive this requirement if you have significant and relevant previous experience.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills, especially in Excel.
- Close attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills.
- A driving licence would be an advantage.
