Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook healthy, balanced meals and snacks tailored to the dietary needs of children in the nursery
- Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards to ensure all meals are prepared in a clean and safe environment
- Plan menus that include a variety of nutritious options to promote healthy eating habits
- Manage kitchen supplies, including ordering ingredients and maintaining stock levels
- Assist with serving meals to children in a friendly and efficient manner, encouraging good manners and independence
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment throughout each shift
- Record meal times, dietary restrictions, and food allergies accurately to ensure all children’s needs are met
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen or restaurant setting
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling and storing food
- Strong skills in meal preparation with an eye for presentation and nutritional balance
- Previous experience working with children or in a childcare environment is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with nursery staff and caregivers
